Throughout my life, I have been a fan of John Wooden. Not only was he successful in coaching, but has shared many words of wisdom and inspiration. When I had the privilege of meeting John, he said something that has stuck with me, “If you can’t do a right-handed layup, don’t worry. Be the best at a left-handed layup as you can.” In other words, don’t worry about what you can’t control; instead, focus on what you can control. I work as Area Manager of The Bank of England, and in our business we focus on closing loans with speed and meeting the goals of our clients. I have 32 years in finance experience and have overseen $700 million in loans given on purchases and refinance transactions. I have also successfully managed over 50 loan officers. I believe that worthwhile results come from hard work and careful planning.
